As we step out into the light and enjoy the warmth of the sun on our faces, we cannot help but wonder if we have seen the last of old man winter. Incidentally the ground hog did not see his shadow this year, so perhaps spring really is just around the corner.

And with spring our thoughts turn toward warmer weather and the annual AFMA spring technical workshop. Now is the time to review your floodplain master plan, to clean your ditches and to promote mitigation efforts. |
And that's what we'll discuss at the spring technical workshop. I am pleased to announce that registration is now open for this annual event that will take place at the Jacksonville Community Center March 31 – April 1. Join us for a day-and-a-half workshop that covers a variety of topics you won't want to miss! |
Once again we have negotiated special rates for AFMA members at local hotels. But you will have to hurry! Rooms are limited. Click here to begin your workshop registration process now. |
This year the spring workshop is being held a few weeks early. We thought it would be helpful for everyone to get a head start on seasonal mitigation efforts. Who knows? We could have another year of record rainfall in the spring and this may be your only opportunity to catch up on the latest from state and federal officials. |
On a related note, I would like to call your attention to the upcoming week-long NFIP course in Conway held annually by FEMA and the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission (ANRC). It's a great introduction to floodplain management and a CFM exam session will be held at the end of the class. |
As always, I remain at your service as does every member of the AFMA board. Please do not hesitate to contact any of us should you need assistance. |
