From the Chair
We completed the annual spring workshop last month on a high note as everyone departed with excellent information to aid in floodplain management efforts this year. I would like to thank each of you who attended and for those of you that couldn’t make it, we will look forward to seeing you at our fall conference in September.
I would also like to thank the AFMA conference committee for assembling what I believe is the best mid-year technical workshop in Arkansas for any association. We made several improvements and many of you took notice. Many thanks for your kind words and your continuing support. We always welcome feedback on our efforts to serve the membership.
Please mark your calendars for our fall conference in Springdale at the Holiday Inn Northwest Arkansas (September 27 – 30). The conference committee has been working on this event since last fall and preparations are underway for our return to this facility.
While for many of us floodplain management is not our primary job, it is a full-time job nonetheless. We are constantly bombarded by messages from a variety of media on a variety of subjects. In our daily routines, maintaining awareness of the latest trends in floodplain management can be a challenge. And that’s where AFMA can help.
Our association includes some of the greatest minds in the business who maintain relationships with FEMA, EPA, USGS and various state agencies. Spending time with your peers at an AFMA-sponsored conference or workshop is an excellent way to ensure you’ll stay in the loop.
